2For 29 years United Security has grown in reputation, brand recognition, revenue, employee size, footprint of coverage, and clients. Because of this success, when I am in front of potentially new prospects, I get asked one common question, “What is the secret to USI’s success?” At this point I usually take a long pause to heighten the anticipation of my answer. I could focus on the availability and engagement of ownership, years of experience of our Operations team, the technology partnerships we have to enhance security programs, but in the end, I always bring my answer back to the employees we have at USI. USI is an employee centric organization. Our focus is identifying the best candidates for each role, training them and giving them the tools and career path to succeed. This strategy is applied no matter the situation. It can be an Overnight Security Officer position on the weekend or a new Finance Manager working in our Corporate office.
The “Silent Engine” or “Secret Sauce” to identifying, interviewing, screening, transitioning and then supporting employees is done by our Human Resources and Recruiting departments. Led by our Director of Human Resources, Valerie Izzo, and our Regional Recruiter Manager, Sean Vimini, these teams work hand in hand. Working for either of these teams is not for the faint of heart. Supporting USI employees is a 24/7/365-day exercise that requires early morning Zoom calls to interview candidates, and or weekend virtual job fairs. It is not uncommon for our HR team to be fielding questions from our employees on a Sunday afternoon about their benefits as that may be the only free time they have in their schedule.
There is a thinking in the business world where everyone says they “Work Hard.” But to truly drive an organization ahead companies need people who work hard when no one is watching– that is our Human Resources and Recruiting teams. They do the hard work when everyone has left for the day or enjoying their weekend. That dedication in finding the right employee for our clients is the foundation and one of the Secrets to our Success.
