Brittany Andersen, Assistant Director of Public Safety, and her team responded quickly and effectively to a stolen vehicle incident, in coordination with the Altoona Police Department (APD). When the Flock Safety system—using license plate recognition (LPR), video surveillance, and audio—alerted authorities to the stolen vehicle in our site’s parking lot, Brittany and her team sprang into action.
They quickly tracked the suspects who had exited the vehicle and walked off the property. Through quick coordination, Brittany guided APD and mobile patrol officers to the suspects, who were later spotted near the management office and on the south side of the property.
As APD made contact, the suspects fled in opposite directions. One was captured after a brief pursuit, while the other was apprehended after an officer sustained an injury during the chase. It was later revealed that the suspects had stolen coats from Bass Pro Shops to alter their appearance.
Thanks to Brittany, her team’s swift actions, and their effective communication with APD, all four suspects face trespassing and stolen property charges, and the vehicle was successfully returned to its owner.
This operation showcases the strength of teamwork, effective leadership, and clear communication in ensuring the safety and security of our property and community.
